Your website is like your virtual home. Just like you want your physical home to be inviting, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing, the same applies to your website. You want visitors to feel at home and understand the layout quickly. That’s why it’s important to use these best practices when designing the homepage of your website.

Homepage Best Practice #1: Design with Intention

Your homepage should be designed with intention and act as a map for the rest of your website. Take some time to think about what you want visitors to do when they visit your website. Do you want them to sign up for a newsletter? Make a purchase? Download an ebook? Head to your services page? Whatever it is, make sure that action is clearly displayed on the homepage of your site.

Homepage Best Practice #2: Choose Colors Wisely

The colors you choose can have a big impact on how people perceive your website. Choose colors that represent your brand and appeal to the emotions of potential customers—without overwhelming them. It’s important that this page presents visitors with an inviting atmosphere and makes them feel welcome in order to encourage further exploration of the site’s content or products/services offered. Use these homepage best practices as a starting point when designing or revamping your website’s homepage so you can ensure maximum engagement from every visitor who stops by!
